FORT LEE – When Fort Lee beat Ridgefield Park in double overtime early in the season, it set the stage for what was surely to be a year-long battle for the Big North Conference – American Division. But a lot changes between December and February and an undefeated January can certainly tip the balance of power. Ridgefield Park has not lost since December 29th and carried a 10-game winning streak into the rematch at Fort Lee on Thursday night. After a near blowout turned into a one-possession game in the fourth quarter, the Scarlets survived to make it 11 in a row with a 46-40 victory that put them two games up on Dwight Morrow with three games left on the league schedule. Go ahead, try knocking the smile off the face of Ridgefield Park head coach Chris Gaskin. “I just told my guys in the locker room, and not to be disrespectful to any of my other teams in the past or anybody that I have ever coached, but this, by far, has been the most enjoyable run that I have ever been a part of coaching high school basketball and this is my 19th year overall at Ridgefield Park,” said Gaskin. “It's just unbelievable what these guys are accomplishing. To be 14-2 when most people didn't think we would win six, seven, eight games...just unbelievable the effort.” MORE...
