MAHWAH -- Queen of Peace is going to the Rothman Center. They
Golden Griffins beat Teaneck, 69-60, at the Bradley Center on
the campus of Ramapo College on Sunday afternoon in the quarterfinals
of the Bergen County Jamboree.
Bilal Dixon was a monster inside finishing with a triple double
and a few dunks that left the crowd in awe. Dixon's play was equally
matched by junior guard Javae Gilchrist, a Teaneck resident who
finished with 18 points.
Teaneck, the No. 8 seed, kept things close, trailing by just
two at the half. Senior Chris Diaz hit the shot of the day, a
three-point basket plus the foul making it a 4-point play. The
Griffins pulled away late in the third and never looked back.
Up next for top-seeded Queen of Peace is No. 4Hackensack, the
one remaining public school in the tournament, in next Saturday's
semifinals. That game will be played at the Rothman Center next
Saturday. Teaneck will get back to regular season play against
St. Joseph Regional on Tuesday.
